Courtier of the Amarna period bearing the title "God's Father," a power behind the throne during Tutankhamun's reign, and ultimately pharaoh himself for a short reign after the boy king's death. His tomb at Amarna carries the only complete copy of the Great Hymn to the Aten. Attested; his exact kinship to the royal family is scholarly inference (a brother of Tiye and a father or other close kinsman of Nefertiti are the usual reconstructions).
