Barque

< 1 min read

A boat of the gods: the gilded boat-shrine in which a god's image was carried on the shoulders of priests or rowed along the river at festivals, and the boat in which Ra crosses the sky by day and the netherworld by night. The word is also spelled bark. In the series it names only these sacred boats; the river's working craft are boats and barges.
