< 1 min read

The people of Hatti: Indo-European speakers of central Anatolia whose kingdom, ruled from Hattusa, rose under Suppiluliuma I to be Egypt's chief rival for Syria. Their archives, cuneiform on clay, preserve treaties, annals, and the correspondence with Egypt. The land and its kingdom are entered under Hatti; the series uses the modern name for the people throughout.
