Regnal year

< 1 min read

Egyptian dating counted from each king's accession ("Regnal Year 3, Second Month of Akhet, Day 15"); there was no continuous era. The novels’ chapter headings follow this scribal format, though the series turns each year of the count at the civil New Year; the New Kingdom’s own practice turned it on the accession day.
