A town of the central Delta, the ancient Khasuu (modern Sakha), capital of the 6th nome of Lower Egypt. Manetho, the Egyptian priest who wrote a history of Egypt in Greek under the Ptolemies, made it the seat of his 14th Dynasty, a line of little-known kings of the Second Intermediate Period; Kim Ryholt and others now place that dynasty at Avaris in the eastern Delta instead, where the Hyksos later ruled.
